My Intention

I created the Therapy Alberta Digital Mental Health Library so people can learn about themselves through a lens of compassion.

I have lived through trauma, and I have lived through healing, and therapy helped.

I have sat on both sides of the room, and I want everyone to have access to the information people used to pay me for.

I advocate for trauma-sensitive care: relational care that prioritizes safety, trust and connection, and views your responses as protection.

My Offering

This library exists to offer information without selling.

Therapy Alberta offers free education in text and video, not therapy.

Education about common therapy concerns can help you better understand yourself and others.

Education about trauma-sensitive therapy can help you better understand the process and make informed choices during your therapy experience.

I believe good information, offered without judgment, shame, or blame, can help people feel less alone.

My Voice

I speak to the reader, not about them. I use their language. I don't pathologize, blame, or shame.

I speak truth, with full honesty. I describe what's possible without promising outcomes.

I lead with empathy. I write from inside the feeling before I explain anything.

I use sense-based, felt-experience language, not clinical description, but the actual texture of what something feels like.

The person is not the problem. Their experience makes sense when you see the whole picture: physical, mental, emotional, and social.

I validate the struggle before I offer anything else.

Use of AI

I use AI to help me research, draft, edit, create art and check facts. I read every word before it gets published.

I bring my lived experience, my clinical background and my values, and I decide what each page says.

I don't know everything in this library. Some of what you read here I learned while making the pages.

AI can get things wrong, so if you notice a mistake, please let me know and I'll fix it.

If you write with us, you're welcome to use AI too, if the perspective, voice and editing are your own.

Writing With Us

If you'd like to write with us, I ask that you write to the reader with the same care.

Speak from your own experience and your own way of seeing.

Describe what therapy can help with, without promising what it will do.

Make no assumptions about who the reader is, what they've lived through or who is in the room with them.

Each library page has a template, and I'll share the one that fits what you'd like to write.

You can also submit videos for the library pages where there is a placeholder.

Our Voices

I want to amplify others' voices.

I invite therapists and professionals in Alberta who share my values to share their expertise and their perspectives.

Join Constellations as a professional to contribute to the blog, library pages and community.

Together, our voices help improve individual and collective mental health.

Free mental health education for trauma-sensitive care in every room and relationship.
