About Therapy Alberta

A modern guide to
trauma-sensitive care

Therapy Alberta

You want good mental health care.

But finding a therapist can feel harder than it should.

You might know what you’re looking for, but everyone looks and sounds the same.

You might not even know what to look for.

Therapy Alberta makes it easier with:

  • a digital library on all things therapy
  • short-form video courses
  • a trauma-sensitive therapist directory (in progress!)
  • a mental health community for Albertans

We offer education, not therapy, to help you learn about your options, so you can find care that fits.

Everything here is free because I love therapy.

Therapy saved my life.

I have survived trauma and I have healed trauma.

I have been the client and I have been the therapist.

Now I am creating the World of Therapy to offer free mental health education for everyone.

No one should have to pay to learn about their own mind and body.

Especially not the people who are hurting the most.

I care for people who have been harmed and people who have caused harm, because both of them are hurting.

I surrendered my license to help more people.

About Carol Korenowski

Therapy Alberta is for the most vulnerable people.

For people harmed by trauma or harmed by people.

For people who are in therapy, can't afford therapy, are between therapists or can't find good therapy.

Therapy Alberta's core values include accessibility, compassion, excellence, service and care.

Healing can happen in the individual and in the community.

Our resources don't replace care from a therapist who knows you, but they offer a kind voice to learn with.

We want to help the people who need it most.

Therapy can help you heal.

But it can also harm you if a therapist does too much, too soon, too fast, or just bad stuff.

It's also hard to heal if people in your home, school, work, community or society are still causing harm.

Therapy Alberta's mission is to improve mental health and transform mental health care.

To help therapists offer trauma-sensitive therapy and help individuals receive great therapy.

We offer free mental health education for trauma-sensitive care in every room and relationship.

Donations and sponsors keep our library and resources free for everyone.

Support our Mission

Good therapy is accessible.

Some public therapy is free and very helpful, but it has limitations.

Private therapy offers freedom: it's more flexible, individualized and adaptable, but usually ~$200/hour.

Therapy Alberta's vision is free private mental health care in Alberta.

We are building a future where everyone can access private therapy even without insurance or benefits.

We advocate for government funding and grants, and for therapists to offer sliding scale fees for therapy.

Help is better when it's free.
