These Terms of Use cover your use of therapyalberta.ca (the “Site”), including our directory, content and community. By using the Site, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site.

Who We Are

Therapy Alberta is a free resource connecting Albertans with mental health information, a directory of practitioners and a community. We aren’t a therapy practice. Using this Site doesn’t make you our client.

Using the Site

Please use the Site lawfully and respectfully. You agree not to:

• Violate our or anyone else’s intellectual property
• Lie about your identity, credentials, or affiliation when you apply to the directory or join the community
• Use the Site to harass, defame, or harm others
• Disrupt, scrape, or misuse the Site’s tech

If you break these rules, we may limit or end your access.

Educational Content

Articles, videos and other content here are for education, not personal advice. Practitioners may contribute content in their area of expertise, but it’s general, not tailored to you. We work to keep content accurate, but we can’t promise it’s error-free, and it may change without notice.

In crisis or need help now? Contact emergency services or a crisis line instead of relying on this Site.

The Practitioner Directory

Our directory lists independent practitioners who applied to be listed. We check each one’s registration or permit number with their regulatory college. Other listing details, like education and specialties, are self-reported and not checked by us.

A listing isn’t a referral, a guarantee, or an endorsement. We aren’t responsible for a listed practitioner’s services, conduct, or results. Practitioners are independent, not our employees or agents. Any care you get is between you and that practitioner, under their own rules and duties.

Community Membership

Community membership is free and open to anyone, like a library card. Members get access to educational content and the general community.

Directory practitioners also get access to a therapist access group, with extra features for their work.

All members agree to be respectful, per our Community Guidelines. We may remove content, suspend accounts, or limit access for anyone who breaks these Terms or the Guidelines.

Intellectual Property

Content here, text, graphics, logos, video, belongs to Therapy Alberta or our contributors, and is protected by copyright. You can view and share it for personal use. You can’t copy, change, or sell it commercially without our written permission.

Links to Other Sites

This Site may link to other sites we don’t own or control, like practitioner sites or booking tools. A link doesn’t mean we endorse that site. We aren’t responsible for linked sites’ content or practices, so check their own terms and privacy policies.

No Warranty & Limits on Liability

The Site and its content come “as is,” with no promises, stated or implied. We don’t promise the Site will run without interruption, errors, or be fully secure. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for damages from your use of the Site, your reliance on its content, or your dealings with any listed practitioner.

Donations

The Site may offer a voluntary donation option through PayPal, to help keep our resource library free. Donations don’t get refunded. Therapy Alberta is a business, not a charity, so donations aren’t tax-deductible, and we won’t issue a tax receipt. PayPal handles donation payments under its own terms. We don’t store your card details.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the law or our Site changes. The date at the top shows the latest update. Please check back now and then. Using the Site after we post changes means you accept them.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by Alberta law and the Canadian federal law that applies here.
